Inspiration is the breath of life that comes directly from Spirit combined with human intelligence. And though all of Humanity possesses this touch of the Divine, all do not realize this numinous side of their nature. It is very true that many people do believe only in the physical world and are consumed by materialistic cravings.

When people have no sense of the sanctity of life, materialism can indeed become their god. In Gnostic terms, these people are earthbound and therefore, they do live under the influence of a worldly Demigod. Christian Gnostics believed Jesus was sent as an emissary of the transcendent God to remind Humanity of its sacred heritage so that humankind could escape through gnosis from Jehovah’s meaningless laws and the vengeful trappings of evil’s power. They knew that gnosis can be kindled by that “spark of the divine” living within every human heart.
