Theology update: the fruit Adam and Eve ate that caused the fall was NOT an apple. Rather, it was a fruit that gave mankind their self-imposed sense of morality, “the knowledge of good and evil.”

That’s also the basis of the sin nature, choosing your own arbitrary morality over that of God. In doing so, we too as modern day people are equally guilty of the Fall. That is why we needed a savior.

That is also why the First and Greatest commandment is, “Hear O Israel, the Lord our God is one LORD.” It hearkens us to remember our place before the Fall.

That is to say, He’s God. You’re not.
