One does not merely decide that Yahusha Christ shall be his Lord, He is Lord by divine right. Before you were saved, you were a slave of sin and Satan and bound to this world, and even if you could try, you could never obtain freedom. You were born in sin and shaped in iniquity (Ps 51:5); you were never free to begin with!

You were imprisoned in chains in the slave market of sin, standing hopeless and helpless among the myriads of lost souls wandering around earth with nowhere to go but hell. And there would you be now were it not that Christ came and redeemed you with a price.

You didn’t choose to be saved and you don’t own your salvation. You don’t even own yourself. You were bought with the ransom price of Christ’s precious blood. You are wholly owned and possessed by the Lord Jesus, your Master, your Owner, by no work, effort, or rights of your own.

No slave ever chooses his master and no one can buy himself freedom from slavery. Sinners do not have freedom to choose Christ. The idea is utterly foreign to Scripture.

– You did not choose Me but I chose you (Jn 15:16).

– For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body (1Co 6:20).

– You were bought with a price; do not become slaves of men (1Co 7:23).

– You were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ (1Pt 1:18-19).

– But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession (1Pt 2:9).

– For You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation (Rv 5:9).

What follows with such understanding? You are not your own. You are still not free! You have been bought by a new Master. You are now the slave of Christ. You are wholly owned by Him. And He does not merely demand your soul, your life, and your all, He has bought them by right and they are His.

O but what a beautiful Master we serve, my friends. A Master who laid down His own life to buy our sin-sick souls!
