The purpose of Palm Sunday is to acknowledge Him who comes in the name of the Lord; i.e. Jesus is now in heaven but He has raised apostolic men who are His proxy, His representation on earth. Jesus said, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me” (Revelation 3:20 NIV).
Metaphorically the “door” represents apostolic men; spiritual fathers who are entrances or gates to a spiritual household or spiritual tribe. These spiritual fathers are keys to the Kingdom – “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:19 NIV). Jesus made this statement PRIMARILY to His apostles.
As His proxies or representatives on earth, we are the channels by which God flows through, to touch human lives. People should experience and encounter God for themselves through us.
After Palm Sunday, Jesus became the Passover Lamb so that out of His pierced side, the Church corporate can come forth and operate with power and authority in the territories that they are called to reach. However, that couldn’t happen until they sorted out the apostolic leadership issue in Acts 1 leading to the formation of the apostolic architecture (chain of command) in Acts 2 which facilitated the birth, the development, and the progress of the Pentecostal reformation.
