Jesus Christ is the one referred to as the Avatar in Hinduism – the incarnation of God in human form and person. The term “avatar” comes from the Sanskrit language and literally means “descent” or “descent.”
Although we all have the potential to realize our true divine nature and achieve enlightenment, Jesus came into this world with exceptional awareness and power that sets him apart from ordinary people. While we struggle with the illusion of our minds, Jesus had complete awareness of his divine nature and purpose for coming to Earth.
Although the law of cause and effect plays a significant role in our lives, our destiny is not entirely predetermined. God’s grace and guidance can overcome these karmic laws, change the outcomes of our experiences, and give us the opportunity for spiritual growth and liberation from the limitations of this world. Such grace and guidance are provided to us by God through Jesus, through his teachings, sacrifice, and resurrection.
