“The son is perfect in every respect. He is the word who originated through that voice, who came from on high, who has within him the name, who is light. The son revealed the everlasting, and all the unknown was known. He revealed what is hard to interpret and what is secret, and he preached to those who live in silence with first thought, and he revealed himself to those who are in darkness, and he clarified himself to those in the abyss. To those in the hidden treasuries he told ineffable mysteries, and he taught unspeakable doctrines to all those who became children of the light.”- Trimorphic Protennoia(Three Forms of First Thought)
“In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” – Gospel of John
“The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.”- Gospel of John
He told them, “The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables” -Gospel of Mark
Trimorphic Protennoia is an endearing piece of gnostic literature. It’s somewhat reminds me of “Thunder Perfect Mind.”
Its style of writing is descriptive and downright beautiful really. Its references to secret knowledge, a common theme in gnostic literature, is also found in multiple verses in the traditional bible. Another common theme in gnostic literature that is also common in the new testament is the description of the Father as light.
So what is this secret knowledge the logos refers too? Its the gnosis of the higher realms that are WITHIN YOU. The light of God is you trapped in a world of suffering and attachment. Let go of everything you’re attached to and take refuge in the silence and the peace of constant self-awareness.
