That state of consciousness was unity consciousness, better known as “Christ Consciousness.”
At the time, the people around Jesus were living from separation consciousness, and this was causing chaos, division, disorder, violence, injustice, and suffering. By shifting and awakening to “Christ Consciousness,”

Jesus’ audience would start to see the kingdom of heaven within them and all around them (non-duality), which would lead to them loving their neighbor as themselves. It would also lead them to treat others as they would want to be treated. This shift in consciousness enabled them to see how everything truly is interconnected.

Before this message of Jesus was distorted and replaced by religious dogma, doctrine, and creeds backed by the Roman Empire in the 4th century, the teaching of Christ Consciousness was actually the original intent of the early Jesus movement. This is why Paul writes, “May the same consciousness that was in Jesus be in you” (Philippians 2:5).

When I used to hear people say what I’m writing about today (Christ Consciousness), I used to immediately disregard it and mock it as “New Age” because that was a common label assigned to certain teachings that were outside of the confines of my fundamentalism.
However, what I eventually learned about Christ Consciousness was that it was simply a name (two words) that pointed to a reality of Oneness that has been realized and taught in nearly every mystical branch of the ancient spiritual traditions thousands of years before Jesus and the Christian religion.

Thus, “Christ Consciousness” or “Unity Consciousness” is by no means “new” but rather ancient.
Jesus, the Jewish man who lived 2,000 years ago, awakened to this reality of Oneness and began to echo what many enlightened beings had taught for thousands of years before him: The Kingdom of God is within you and all around you (non-duality). You are divine and so is everyone else.
