We do this as well. The parts of the mind that were programmed into believing there is a God outside of yourself still assumes the posture of reaching out to self in the illusion of an outside entity.

It seems the mind of man in a state of trauma can only receive itself as beside itself. The condemned state within the mind creates a separate hero to try and measure up to because it has been taught to despise itself as less than.

Even Jesus struggled to a degree with his own identity. Jesus was God and so are you. The self condemned will easily see Jesus as God but not themselves. It seems we always expect everyone else to be happy but ourselves. Others will succeed but not me.

This is a very common perspective in our human experience. To compare and compete! Jesus is the minds way of trying to cope with a piss poor education on what it means to be human. When we have been programmed into believing our humanity is broken and we are nasty little sinners, the mind automatically looks for someone better than us to help us be better.

The real you, the higher self has been using models for your mind to cope. One model is to reflect yourself as separate from yourself to begin to understand the egoic avatar version and the true Higher self version.

Eventually, we will go from praying to ourselves at a distance to a united inner dialog of true self and the help mate we call the avatar that animates the inner dialog into an outer world to play in.

You are God experiencing yourself as mankind. There is no one else but you. This doesn’t mean you are alone. For you have created a dream to experience yourself in as everyone else. Take notice to the expressions around you that hold the keys to unlocking deeper realities as you see your life as an allegorical experience of the divine.
