Sadly, when people walk away from Evangelical Christianity, it’s painfully difficult.
“Woke, libtard, backslidden, demon-possessed, and heretic” are among the popular labels cast upon them by the religious.
Rejection, guilt trips, and condemnation from the people who should love them the most flood their souls.
Yet, for so many, there can be no denying that the times they have felt closest to Jesus have been outside the church, not within her.
The moments they have felt the most spiritual have been in the presence of people and places that aren’t “Christian.”
The times when they have felt the most peace and clarity have been when they embraced the Divine within them.
And the times they have felt the most fulfilled is when they have boldy lived their truth and extended unconditional love to people.
Those who walk away from Evangelical Christianity do so because their longing for Jesus has become greater than their settling for and being enslaved in a faith that seems to have abandoned love in exchange for power and privilege, and the spiritual rationalization of cruelty and hatred.
Make no mistake, those who walk away aren’t surrendering to the forces of darkness. No, they are the truth seekers, the people lovers, the God chasers, the system breakers, the hope givers, the light bearers, and the brave ones who have tasted and seen that Love is good, Love is the answer, Love is everything, and Love is absolutely worth it all.
