WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A CHRISTIAN? ✝️
A Christian was never meant to be
someone who merely claims a religion.
The word did not mean
“Bible-believer,”
“church-member,”
or “Jesus name-claimer.”
A Christian was one
who lived from Christ.
And this is where the confusion entered.
Many people claim Christianity
more than they claim Christ.
They follow Jesus of the Bible,
yet neglect Christ within them—
the hope of glory.
Jesus and Christ are not synonymous terms.
When we collapse them into one,
we lose the very thing
Jesus came to reveal.
Jesus of Nazareth is the man.
Christ is the anointing,
the indwelling life,
the union between God and humanity.
Christ was never a last name.
It was never owned by one person.
It was never exclusive.
It is the life made available to all.
This is why Scripture says
there is one mediator between God and humanity— Christ.
Not a book.
Not a system.
Not an institution.
Not even a historical figure followed from a distance.
Christ within you.
Jesus never said,
“Follow me by memorizing my biography.”
He said,
“Eat my body.
Drink my blood.”
Become what I am.
Live from the same life.
To follow Jesus
was never about saying his name.
It was about doing what he did—
abiding,
hearing,
loving,
living from union.
And this is why the Holy Spirit matters.
Not as an accessory,
but as the guide.
Each person carries a unique blueprint.
A unique path.
A unique expression of Christ.
When you follow someone else’s blueprint,
you miss your own becoming.
Religion prefers sameness.
Christ produces sons and daughters.
Christianity, as a label, can be inherited.
Christ must be embodied.
And that is the great divide.
You can follow Jesus of the Bible
and still neglect Christ in you,
the hope of glory.
But the call was never imitation.
It was participation.
Not simply admiration.
Transformation.
Not simply “follow this man.”
But “let this life live through you.”
Christ was never meant to be admired from afar.
What was revealed in Jesus
was meant to be realized in you.
And when the life within awakens,
religion falls silent—
because union has begun.
