(Revelation 12:7-9 — Unveiling the Real Battle)

“And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon…” — Revelation 12:7

Understanding the Language of “Heaven”

The Bible must interpret itself.

To Hebrew minds, “heaven and earth” were not just sky and soil, but “systems” and “people”.

• Heaven = the ruling spiritual order — the priesthood, temple, and Law.
“The heavens declare the glory of God.” — Psalm 19:1

The temple and covenant people were meant to declare God’s glory to the nations.

• Earth = the covenant community living under that system.

When that system became corrupt, heaven itself needed cleansing.
That is the “war in heaven.”

HEAVEN to the Hebrews was their temple system and priesthood.

YES they believed in a literal place where God dwelt also … but that’s what “HEAVEN” meant to a Jewish law mind. 

Jesus — the True Michael, the Mighty One

Michael means “Who is like God?” — a title fulfilled perfectly in Christ.
• Colossians 2:15 — He disarmed rulers and authorities.

• Ephesians 1:20-21 — He is seated above all principality and power.

• 1 John 3:8 — The Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil.

The battle in Revelation 12 pictures Christ confronting the old religious order — not a literal sword fight in the clouds, but a spiritual conflict between grace and law, truth and hypocrisy.

The Dragon — That Old System

Revelation names the dragon “that old serpent” (12:9) — a symbol reaching back to Genesis 3… a LITERAL SNAKE did not talk to Eve … but a deceiving religious ruler.

ADAM AND EVE are not the first people … YOUR BIBLE shows Gen 1:27 and the creating of people with no tree restrictions and not put in a garden… That’s not Adam Eve that’s the first people.

Genesis 2… Shows the formation of a covenant people.

A religious “snake“ talks to Eve from the first group… Just like a religious leader by Jesus is called a snake a viper… As did John the Baptist… That’s what that “snake“ is symbolic of.

It is deception, the twisting of God’s law into bondage.

• Isaiah 27:1 — Leviathan the serpent represents oppressive kingdoms.

• Romans 7:9-11 — Sin used the commandment to bring death.

Thus the “dragon” is the old covenant system when it turned from light to darkness.

The CURSE of old covenant Judaism as they turned it into a curse by not keeping it.

Christ’s ministry was that holy war, casting down the false “heaven” of temple power.

The War in “Heaven” — A Battle of Authority

Paul spoke of this struggle:
• Ephesians 6:12 — We wrestle not against flesh and blood but against rulers in heavenly places.

They fought against the rulers in “heavenly places”, (JEWISH TEMPLE SYSTEM) which were the Jews and the Jewish temple system, and the Jewish priests and the Jewish messengers or angels who preached works instead of grace and had “fallen from grace”, so they were fallen messengers… FALLEN “ANGELS”…

• 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 — We pull down strongholds and imaginations.

Jesus entered that battle in His earthly ministry: overturning tables (Matthew 21:12-13), exposing hypocrisy, and offering Himself as the final Lamb.
That was the casting down of Satan … the JEWISH HIGH PRIEST— the fall of that corrupt system.
SATAN … the same men or man that tempted him in the wilderness … that false lying system of Jewish priesthood.

“Now shall the prince of this world be cast out.” — John 12:31

The “WORLD” means ERA or TIMEFRAME of the Jews … the prince of that ERA was the Jewish high priest who had the messiah killed … just like the Bible says.

Heaven and Earth Passed Away

Peter and Isaiah prophesied “new heavens” and “new earth” (2 Peter 3:13; Isaiah 65:17).

This was fulfilled when the “old temple system” was destroyed in A.D. 70.
• Matthew 24:34 — “This generation shall not pass till all these things be fulfilled.”

• Hebrews 9:26 — He appeared at the end of the ages to put away sin.

The old heaven and earth = old covenant order.

The new heaven and earth = the reign of Christ within His people.

Old earth : Jewish law keepers… The old Covenant people

New heavens: new covenant system, New Testament
New earth: New Testament believers

“We have this treasure in earthen vessels…”

Rapture and Resurrection — Lifted Hearts, Not Vanished Bodies

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 describes being “caught up,” Greek harpazō — to seize or lift spiritually.

Paul used the same word for his visionary ascent (2 Cor 12:2).

“Air” and “clouds” are figures of fellowship and revelation, not atmosphere.

• Ephesians 2:6 — We are already seated in heavenly places.

• Colossians 3:1-2 — Seek the things above where Christ is.

The “dead in Christ” are those once dead under the Law (Eph 2:1; Rom 7:4).

They “rose first” as the gospel freed believing Jews from Moses’ body into Christ’s.

DEAD BODY OF MOSES :
Spiritually dead body of law of Moses keepers…

LIVING BODY OF CHRIST :
Spiritually alive body of believers in Christ

The End of the World = End of the Age

Greek aion = age, not land we live on.

The disciples asked about the end of the age (Matt 24:3).
That end came with the temple’s fall and the dawn of the new covenant.
• Hebrews 8:13 — What is obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish.

• Luke 21:20-24 — Jerusalem’s destruction fulfilled prophecy.

Thus the “end of the world” in Scripture refers to the end of the Mosaic age, not the end of Earth.

The True Kingdom and Presence of Christ
• Luke 17:20-21 — The kingdom of God is within you.

• Matthew 28:20 — “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

• John 14:18, 23 — He comes and dwells in those who love Him.

The Greek parousia means presence, not a distant return.
Christ’s presence is continuous among His people — that’s the real “coming of the Lord.”

The Spiritual Kingdom Now

• Romans 14:17 — The kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

• Daniel 7:14 — His dominion is everlasting.

We are living in that kingdom now, raised with Christ, walking in newness of life.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10

The call is not fear of escape but peaceful faithfulness:

• 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 — Work quietly, mind your own business.

Conclusion

Revelation 12:7-9 isn’t describing dragons in outer space — it reveals the spiritual victory of Christ over every system that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.

The war was fought at Calvary, and its triumph revealed in the destruction of the old order and the birth of the everlasting kingdom within.

“Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God.” — Revelation 12:10

We no longer wait for escape.
We rise — in Spirit, in truth, in Christ.
Heaven is here and now within the hearts of those who see.
