Beloved, open your spiritual eyes. There is a vast difference between having a servant’s heart and being a servant to a heart of stone. For too long, the Body of Christ has mistaken people-pleasing for humility, and confusion for peace. We have confused the virtue of longsuffering (Galatians 5:22) with the sin of enabling.

The Spirit of the Lord reveals a quiet epidemic in the Church: the “Taking for Granted Spirit.” It is a religious spirit that masquerades as love, but its fruit is resentment. It convinces you that your identity is found in what you do for others, rather than in who God says you are. If you are tired of feeling like a doormat rather than a disciple, listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches. Here are 20 revelations to help you discern if you are being spiritually exploited.

THE 20 REVELATIONS OF DISCERNMENT

1. The Paralysis of “Yes”: When you cannot say “no,” your “yes” loses its value. Your inability to set boundaries is not just a personality flaw; it is a spiritual hemorrhage. It drains the anointing God gave you for your own assignment into the lap of someone else’s laziness or manipulation.

2. The Curse of Predictability: If the enemy can predict your reaction, he can plan your destruction. When you are predictable, you are controllable. God is a God of order, but not of robotic predictability. He wants you to be led by the Spirit, not by the expectations of men.

3. The Poison of ‘Sweetness’: There is a false sweetness that is actually the fear of man. Proverbs 29:25 says the fear of man brings a snare. If your “sweetness” prevents you from speaking truth, it is not the fruit of the Spirit; it is the bondage of approval.

4. Indecision is a Decision: Postponing a decision is deciding to remain in chaos. When you refuse to make a judgment call, you hand the reins of your life to someone who has no problem making decisions for you—often for their benefit, not yours.

5. The Fear of Confrontation: To confront is not to be contentious. Jesus confronted the Pharisees. Paul confronted Peter. Holy confrontation is the surgery of the soul. Avoiding it allows the cancer of offense to spread.

6. The Intimidation of the Loud: Loudness is not leadership. Do not confuse a loud voice with the voice of God. When you bow to intimidation, you are bowing to the spirit of this world. The Spirit you carry is not one of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).

7. The Padded Lie: Lying to yourself is the most dangerous form of deception. When you rationalize mistreatment as “just serving,” you have become an accomplice to your own spiritual abuse.

8. The Mirror of Self-Doubt: Seeing yourself as flawed and others as flawless is idolatry. It places man on a pedestal and buries your talent in the ground. God does not make junk. You are His masterpiece.

9. The Idol of Companionship: Loneliness is a terrible taskmaster. The fear of being alone drives people into the arms of abusers. God said it is not good for man to be alone, but He never said it is good for man to be used. Solitude with God is better than fellowship with those who drain you.

10. The Addiction to Approval: When you need the applause of man to validate your existence, you have made man your god. The praise of men is a cheap drug that leads to a fatal overdose of rejection.

11. You Apologize for Existing: When you constantly say sorry for having needs, opinions, or feelings, you are declaring that you are less human than those around you. Jesus died for your whole being, not just your service.

12. You Carry Their Burdens, Not Their Cross: There is a difference between helping someone carry a burden (Galatians 6:2) and carrying the weight God never assigned you. If you are doing for others what God is asking them to do for themselves, you are delaying their breakthrough and hastening your burnout.

13. Your Help Has Become a Habit: When your help is expected and not appreciated, you have moved from ministry to maintenance. You are no longer a blessing; you are a utility.

14. Your Voice Has Dimmed: If you find yourself shrinking in conversations, hiding your opinions, or silencing your gift to keep the peace, you are quenching the Holy Spirit. The Spirit wants to speak, but you are keeping Him mute.

15. You Finance Your Own Exploitation: You give your time, money, and energy to people who never invest in you. This is not sowing seed on good ground; this is throwing pearls to swine.

16. You Feel Guilty for Resting: If the thought of taking a break fills you with dread because you worry about who will handle things, you have made yourself an idol. You think the world revolves around you, and in doing so, you insult the God who holds the universe together.

17. They Only Call When They Need Something: Discern the pattern. If the relationship is a one-way street of need, you are not in a covenant; you are in a contract of convenience.

18. Your Joy is Conditional on Their Happiness: Your peace should not fluctuate based on the mood of another person. If their bad day ruins your week, you are spiritually entangled.

19. You Explain Yourself Too Much: The anointing does not require a dissertation. A “no” should be enough. Over-explaining is a sign that you are trying to manage their reaction rather than obeying your own peace.

20. You’ve Forgotten Who You Are: The ultimate sign of being taken for granted is that you have lost your sense of self. You have forgotten that you are a royal priesthood, a child of the King. You are acting like a hired servant in a house where you own the deed.

Matthew 7:6
“Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.”

Revelation: Your time, your gifts, and your heart are holy. When you offer them to those who have no reverence for them, you invite trampling.

Galatians 1:10
“For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.”

Revelation: There is a direct conflict between being a people-pleaser and being a servant of Christ. You cannot serve two masters.

Proverbs 4:23
“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”

Revelation: Guarding your heart means guarding the gates of your life. If you let everyone walk through your heart with muddy feet, the wellspring of your life becomes polluted.

THE PROPHETIC DECREE AND DECLARATION

Stand on your feet, child of God. Let the breath of the Lord blow upon the embers of your forgotten identity. Lift your head and declare this decree:

DECREE:

I DECREE that the spirit of people-pleasing is broken off my life RIGHT NOW!
I DECLARE that my “yes” means yes, and my “no” means no, and I am free from the bondage of explaining my boundaries.
I DECREE that I am no longer a doormat for the devil or a rug for the manipulative.
I DECLARE that my predictability is broken; I am led solely by the Spirit of the Living God, and the enemy cannot plot my path.
I DECREE that the fear of man, which brings a snare, is dissolved by the fire of the Holy Ghost.
I DECLARE that I am too sweet to be sour, but I am also too wise to be foolish; I speak the truth in love.
I DECREE that every decision I postponed is now brought before the counsel of Heaven for divine judgment and resolution.
I DECLARE that I am not intimidated by loud voices, for I carry the Thunder of Heaven within me.
I DECREE that the lies I told myself are silenced by the Truth of God’s Word. I am not what they say I am; I am what God says I am.
I DECLARE that I am complete in Christ; I need no validation from man, for I am approved in the Beloved.
I DECREE that I will no longer finance my own exploitation or fuel my own frustration.
I DECLARE that my heart is guarded. The gates are up, the watchman is awake, and only that which is holy and pure shall enter.
I DECREE a shift in my atmosphere! From this day forward, I will be valued, I will be respected, and I will walk in the dignity of a son/daughter of Zion.
I DECLARE that I am taken for granted NO MORE. My sacrifices are sacred, my service is spiritual, and my identity is sealed in the blood of Jesus.

IT IS SO! AMEN AND AMEN!
